Hello, what an amazing story and site!
I am a second year student midwife currently studying Midwifery BSc (hons) degree at Bedfordshire University in Buckinghamshire. Within the next coming weeks 15 colleagues and myself have been asked to do a presentation on 'the sick neonate and their family'. I have decided to speak about neonates on oxygen and the support families get in the neonatal intensive care unit and once at home. I have looked though your website and read your story and wondered with your permission if i could use it as a case study. The information will stay between my colleagues and myself and won't be given to a third party.
Looking forward to hearing back.
Thank you
Dawn
This is one of the hardest moments in my life. I gave birth to my 24 week old beautiful son on Monday , he is now 5 days old and is still such a fighter. We are so blessed with every day with him and so amazed at his strength. I have so many questions why, and I have been searching the internet for an answer or for any get through guide. I have never felt more less in control of anything. Coming across your site, just told me I'm not alone and their is hope. The diary and the rollercoaster of ups and downs is exactly what we are going through in just only 5 days. I see it will be an even longer and possibly harder road, but with this you provided comfort and light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for sharing your story.
Thank you for your info on Corey's feeing problems. I have 14 month old twins, and while my little girl eats like a horse, my little man has troubles. He mostly chokes on everything he eats. My OT told me to try the wheat germ thing, and I will start that tonight. However, I find it comforting that you have shared your story, as well as the things that you have tried with him. It gives me a few ideas, but also lets me know that I am not alone. Thank you!
Just stumbled across corey's website. I was a sister at jessops on nicu from 2002 - 2007 and i remember how poorly corey was when he was first born. I was working in room 4 the night corey ended up oscilated and on nitric and i could never believe what a little fighter he was. I still don't know how he survived that night. It so good to see the pictures of him now, as you often never get to see the babies in later years. He is absolutely gorgeous and looks an angel. How does he like school?
Hi there,
Wow, your story is really inspiring, I have had a 26 weeker and she came home after 14 and a half weeks in hospital on oxygen and a NG tube. She has now been home for 15 weeks and is off oxygen 8 hours a day so far! We are having quite a few feeding issues and was wondering if you'd be able to let me know how you got Corey off the NG tube, any hints, etc? This is such a great website and bought tears to my eyes what Corey and you guys have been through. Bought back so many memories from what we have been through.
